About This Blog

This blog page began as a communication tool between students in my master's cohort when our blackboard page was taken down but we weren't finished with our discussions. It has, since, evolved into my personal blog page where I share my thoughts on current events, social media, technology, education, and other topics that move me to write about them. Feel free to browse and leave comments. Welcome! Photo by David Schrock

Digital Stories

http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/audiovideo/sites/yourvideo/pages/richard_pugh_01.shtml

This is a link to my favorite digital story from the BBC Wales project. I am inspired by all of these simple stories and look forward to the day when digital stories are like birthday cards and we are sharing them for all occasions including Thanksgivings, and Christmasses, and Mother's days too. They are such a powerful way to capture the essence of who we are and how we see the world.

As a teacher, I have seen the power of this tool and its impact on students when they are given voice, even when their traditional "writing" skills may not be on par. I can only imagine the insight we might have to the lives of so many of the people in our own community who will be gone before we know it. Wouldn't it be nice to have them captured not only in photos, but with the power of their voices and their spoken word? I will get to work on that...
